Albion Rovers is delighted to announce the signing of Josh McCulloch on loan from Hibernian.
The 18-year-old versatile defender joins Brian Reid’s team on the back of helping Hibs’ under-19s reach the UEFA Youth League play-off round – which saw the Leith young team lose out narrowly 1-0 to Borussia Dortmund.
A player comfortable across the backline and in midfield, McCulloch was part of Hibs’ under-18 team that won the CAS Elite U18 League in 2021/22.
He is available for selection this afternoon against Annan Athletic.
Manager Brian Reid said: “We have made it no secret in recent weeks that we are light on numbers and our squad was being stretched thin due to injuries.
“Josh is a talented player, who is highly rated by Hibs, and he will give us depth across the park. This provides us with an opportunity to build a relationship with another club too.”
Hibs academy director Steve Kean added: “This is a great opportunity for Josh to go and get regular minutes playing first team senior football.
“With this loan, he will also be able to play for (Hibs) development squad, which will give him a good opportunity to play two games a week and really accelerate his development between now and the end of the season.”
