Albion Rovers are delighted to announce that defender Sean Docherty has joined the club until the end of the current Lowland League West campaign.
The former Hearts youth academy graduate, 23, joins Steven Saunders’ side with experience of playing in the fifth tier, having previously gone out on loan to Gala Fairydean Rovers making 33 appearances for the Netherdale side.
Most recently, Docherty had spells with East Fife where he made 48 appearances before going on to join Stranraer where he made 20 appearances for the Dumfriesshire side.
Sean has already been training with Saunders’ squad and featured off the bench as a trialist in our recent league clash with Pollok, and he is available for selection tomorrow when we return to Newlandsfield Park for our Scottish Cup clash against the Southsiders.
Manager Saunders said on his latest signing: “Sean played a lot of football last season for Stranraer and he’s a player that will bring SPFL experience into our very young backline.”
