Under-20s team to compete in the Scottish Lowland Development Football League West
We are pleased to confirm that a new U20s team comprised of players making the step up from Albion Rovers Community Football Club will compete in the SLDFL West this season, creating a pathway to Steven Saunders’ first-team squad.
Further strengthening ties with our Community Club, the U20s squad – led by head coach Ross Goldie – will play a selection of fixtures at The Reigart Stadium, including Friday night’s league opener against Killwinning Rangers.
The U20s will play most of their fixtures at St Ambrose High School, ensuring that the Cliftonhill surface is protected throughout the campaign, especially during the winter months.
Entry to these Cliftonhill fixtures will be by donation at the gate.
On Saturday, one of our U20 players joined the first-team group, with goalkeeper Aaron Pollock involved in the matchday squad for our Lowland League West fixture against Largs Thistle.
We were also delighted to welcome some ball attendants from the Community Club’s 2016s team!
It’s an exciting time for the ARFC as we continue to build towards becoming a community-focused football club. We will continue to work closely with and support our community club, our community trust and our supporters’ trust.
