Goalkeeper Daniel Gaffney departs Albion Rovers

Goalkeeper Daniel Gaffney has left Albion Rovers after a mutual agreement was reached to terminate his contract.

The 20-year-old joined from Caledonian Locomotives’ set-up in July 2025 and made 12 Lowland League appearances during the 2025/26 campaign.

A popular figure among the Cliftonhill faithful, Daniel enjoyed a strong end to last season, playing seven of the eight final outings and helping the team win six of the seven games that he played in during that run.

The stopper swiftly made a name for himself even before he officially signed, saving a penalty in a friendly against Queen’s Park.

Despite his short time at The Reigart Stadium, the goalkeeper enjoyed several memorable moments during his 12-month spell with the club.

A board spokesperson said: “Everyone at Albion Rovers would like to thank Daniel for his contribution during his time with the club and wish him well for the future.”
