Albion Rovers suffered back-to-back Scottish Lowland Football League West defeats after going down 3-1 to table-toppers Auchinleck Talbot last Saturday afternoon.
Steven Saunders’ side put on an impressive first-half display at The Reigart Stadium, with midfielder Daniel Hunter opening the scoring with a brilliant long-range strike.
However, the visitors went up a few gears after the break, with a quickfire double from No 9 Connor Boyd turning the match around. The forward levelled the scoring after 50 minutes, with his second coming three minutes later through a deft header.
Luke Main then made it 3-1 for Tommy Sloan’s team after 74 minutes to send Talbot top of the table. Rovers have now faced the league’s top two back-to-back – but will be frustrated that they didn’t earn any points despite taking the lead in both outings.
It’s now a two-week break for Rovers with our return seeing us travel to Preston Athletic in the South Challenge Cup second round.
