Summary

Rovers returned to winning ways yesterday afternoon with a 1-0 win at home to Berwick Rangers with Bright Prince grabbing the only goal of the game.

Both sides had plenty of chances with Ross Connelly notably putting in a great performance with some great saves to keep a clean sheet.

First Half

A quiet opening to the match seen Berwick get the first chance of the game on the 7th minute with Kilmionek striking from distance but his strike floated over the bar.

Joe Bevan would then do brilliantly in the box shortly after with a brilliant flick to beat his man creating a passing opportunity but his attempt couldn’t find any takers.

Around the half hour mark, the game would explode into life with Rovers first big chance of the game seeing Corrie Fellows find Joe Bevan in the box, however he couldn’t keep his strike down.

Berwick would get a chance of their own almost instantly as another strike from distance would skim just over the bar.

Joe Bevan would be next to attack for Rovers as he beats two players in midfield and drives towards goal but some great defending would see the ball diverted out for a corner.

Rovers would ramp up the attacks on the verge of half time as captain Sean Fagan would go the closest of both sides as his header agonisingly bounced off the post. Niyah Joseph would follow this up with a strike from distance going just wide of the post.

Second Half

The opening goal of the match would come just five minutes into the second half as Bright Prince managed to break past two defenders in the box allowing him to smash the ball into the top corner to give Rovers a 1-0 lead.

Just after the hour mark, Berwick would almost find an equaliser as a corner managed to find it’s way through the box resulting in an effort floating just inches over the bar.

Joe Bevan would go close again on the 66th minute as he was found by Alex McCaw in the box but once again his effort goes over the bar.

Ross Connolly would be called into action just three minutes later as a strong handed save down low was required to deny a strike from distance.

Niyah Joseph would almost get on the scoresheet with ten minutes to play as he managed to beat his man in the box but his effort was blasted straight at the Berwick keeper.

A brilliant free kick with two minutes to play would see Ross Connelly pull off another outstanding save as Berwick began to pile on the pressure.

Despite a few minutes of additional time, Rovers would see the game out with the match ending 1-0 giving Rovers a massive three points.
