Albion Rovers and St Mirren enter a Co-Operation agreement!

Albion Rovers are delighted to confirm we have entered a Co-Operation agreement with Premier Sports Cup holders St Mirren ahead of the 2026/27 Lowland League West season!

The scheme, which was introduced last season by the Scottish FA, allows clubs in the Scottish Premiership and Championship to place a maximum of three players who are eligible to play for the Scotland National Team on a co-operation list, meaning the players can move freely between the sides throughout their time on loan.

As fans saw last season, the agreement proved very beneficial to us through our partnership with Kilmarnock, with Grant Marchant, Ruari Ellis, Euan Bowie and Zander Craik all joining us as part of the scheme last season.

As part of the agreement with the Buddies, 17-year-old defender Innes Clark and 17-year-old goalkeeper Grant Tamosevicius have joined the club – subject to SFA approval

Grant was a key player for the Buddies’ U19 side last season and was rewarded for his form by making his first team debut in the semi-final of the Scottish Gas Men’s Scottish Cup against eventual double winners Celtic, coming on as a 16th-minute substitute and pulling off some fantastic saves during the game.

Innes spent last season on loan at WOSFL First Division side Benburn, where he made over 30 appearances while also being an important player for St Mirren U19S!

Speaking on the new Co-Op deal, Manager Steven Saunders said – “It’s been a really good thing that Craig (McLeish, Manager of St Mirren) and Allan McManus have done to get the Co-op Agreement. Having Grant and Innes come in, two very good boys that need game time at this level. Innes did really well at Benburb last year, and Grant has had a taste of first team football already last season, so it’ll be good to get them in and get them playing throughout this season!”

Our thanks go to everyone at St Mirren for their work in getting the agreement over the line, and we look forward to catching up with Innes and Grant to get their thoughts on making the move!
