Rovers assistant manager George Paterson heaped praise on the supporters for helping get Tuesday night’s match against Tranent on – and for how they helped get the 2-0 win over the line.
He said: “The fans really got us over the line on Tuesday night against Tranent. It was a great result for us in a good cup competition. We want to do well in each competition we take part in.
“Tranent were having a decent spell before we scored and our fans really got behind the team and made it a proper atmosphere. They cheered every block, every tackle, and every time we touched the ball as if we had scored a goal and I really think that played a part in us getting the result over the line. It gave the players that wee bit extra to keep on going.
“The game of course was in doubt and it really blew me away the effort that Bobby (Cameron) and everyone who helped out put in to make the pitch playable. The gaffer (Sandy Clark) got involved too which was great and we had a brilliant group of fans who helped ensure we got the match on.
“The result was brilliant for our young squad. The togetherness is building quickly and you can see that on the park. Niayh (Joseph) was brilliant up top and he scored two great goals – that is why we brought him to the club. I thought he led the line expertly and he got the team up the pitch.
“Josh Tran is only 17-years-old so to see him come on and get an assist was fantastic. It is a first taste of men’s football for him and he is getting better and better. He is a player who will excite the supporters. Joe Bevan once again showed his real quality in possession too and was unplayable at times. The effort of the full team was outstanding and we fought for our clean sheet from back to front.
“We are setting high standards and everything we do at training, on a matchday and even away from the club is set up to strive for success. Everyone is pulling in the right direction and the full backroom team are making a big impact in what we do.”
