For those who don’t know, we have some happy/sad news about our stellar Head of Media, Ben Kearney.
With mixed emotions, we have to say that he’ll be moving on from brilliantly leading our growing media team to take a position with the Falkirk Herald as their newest sports reporter.
He’ll now be responsible for covering Falkirk FC and Stenhousemuir FC matches which means he’ll no longer be able to be at every Albion Rovers match. Sadly, this means he has to retire from his role with us. š
We’re incredibly grateful for the work he’s done over the last few years. In his time, he’s overseen a step-change in the club’s media output both in terms of volume and quality.
He’s grown our social media presence with a great blend of factual content and some perfectly-pitched humour. His commentary on our live streams has won fans both home and away for its blatantly biased tone while still remaining fair and accurate.
His photography and match reports are of such a high quality that it is easy to forget that he was still completing a journalism degree during most of it!!
However, probably most importantly, his post match interviews with the manager, Brian Reid, and the highlight packages that he prepares and shares have given our fans a level of direct contact with the team that has never been seen before.
He’s set a precedent that will be hard to beat by the media crew that he built and will leave behind. Taylor, Connor and Chris have big shoes to fill but we’re assured that Ben won’t disappear completely and he will continue to support both the media team and football team (obviously!) from all the way over in Stirlingshire.
That cheeky tweet about Falkirk was eerily prescient and now takes on a new, sadder meaning for us.
Thank you and good luck, Ben, from everyone at Albion Rovers.
