Sadly, Alison McGowan recently decided to stand down from the Board.
The daughter of a former steward at the club, she accepted a seat in 2018 and was only the second woman in the club’s history to become a director. Since then, she has given an immense amount of time, enthusiasm, professionalism and commitment to the club.
Her route to the position, via the Supporters’ Trust, and her preference to stand at the tunnel rather than take a comfy seat in the director’s box sets her apart as a true Rovers’ fan.
Alison helped steer the course through an unprecedented time as football closed completely in 2020 and was part of the move to bring Live Streaming to Cliftonhill. And that’s just one thing on the list of achievements.
We were extremely sad to accept her resignation and wish her all the best in the future.
Her husband, Scott, also ended his voluntary service as Deputy Safety Officer.
Scott’s contribution to Albion Rovers is vast. Unseen and unsung, he designed and implemented a series of processes that push the club to the forefront of risk and compliance management.
He has provided an enormous amount of mental energy and rigour that paves the way for the football team to focus purely on the football.
