FRIENDLY
Alloa Athletic FC 0-1 Albion Rovers FC
Rovers secured an impressive 1-0 victory over League One Alloa Athletic on Saturday afternoon at the Indodrill.
Sandy Clark’s team took the lead two minutes before half time after neat build-up play was rewarded with a fortuitous opener.
Joe Bevan was in the right place at the right time in the box to see the ball divert off him and into the net via the Wasps’ goalkeeper.
The first half showing was strong against a side pushing for promotion for the Championship last term, while the second half was certainly back to the walls at times – but the guys showed great character to grind out a win.
Ross Connelly made a couple of superb saves late on, with the likes of Barry Duncan impressing in the middle of the park.
Rovers line-up once again including a host of trialists, with most of them being familiar faces from the NL Cup last weekend.
We’ll have reaction from boss Sandy Clark tomorrow.
