The Reserves played their first game of the year against AfroScots – a select team involving a number of players currently playing with League and Lowland League clubs – at Holm Park in Yoker on Sunday.
An outstanding first-half performance against our opponents, from which we sourced Joe Bevan and Reserves captain Michael Semirimu, saw Rovers 4-0 ahead, with goals from Barry Duncan, Cha Henderson, Reagan Cairney-Smith and Youcef Narbesia.
The home team scored early in the second half but the score remained unchanged until late on when, with all Rovers’ bench players on, they netted twice more – and it took an excellent save from Chris Smith to secure a well-deserved victory.
FT: AfroScots 1-6 Albion Rovers Reserves
The Reserves next game is at The Reigart Stadium next Monday against Larkhall Thistle (8pm).
