Everyone at Albion Rovers Football Club wishes to extend our condolences to Mary, Elizabeth and the extended family and friends of revered supporter Andy Allan who sadly passed away yesterday after a period of illness.
A familiar and popular face at Cliftonhill since the 1980s, Andy, alongside partner Mary, both embedded themselves into the fabric of Albion Rovers and have symbolised everything that makes our football club so special.
Andy’s commitment and contribution over the years will never be forgotten. His warm and gentle character will be remembered by those he met on the terraces too.
Andy and Mary’s unique, friendly and chatty approach to the 50/50 draw boosted the club’s coffers significantly over the years – with over £10,000 being raised last season alone.
Heading into Saturday’s trip to Fauldhouse, the first team led by club captain Alan Reid, will wear black armbands as a mark of respect and remembrance.
This will also be the case at our next home match, which is against Gala Fairydean Rovers on Saturday, August 31.
