There will be a bucket collection at the ground on Saturday through Maggie’s after a daughter of a Mother who received care from the hospice looks to cycle from London to Amsterdam
Laura Miller’s mum, June Miller, got incredible support from Maggie’s Centre after she was diagnosed with throat cancer before passing away last year. Now she is looking to honour her mum’s memory by raising money for the charity that provided that vital support for her as she is cycling from England’s capital to Amsterdam.
Starting in June, the month of her mother’s birthday, Laura will be looking to tackle the mammoth 286 miles, and is expected to take 4 days. In a post on her JustGiving page Laura said: “Despite feeling very emotional, I wanted to do something positive today so I am announcing that in memory of Mum, I’m taking on a long-distance cycle to raise money for Maggie’s Cancer charity.
“This charity is very close to her heart and who supported her through throat cancer. Whilst this was not the illness that took her from us, one of my last conversations with her was discussing signing up for this at this time last year…. before everything changed….so now it’s time to do it.”
As a proud supporter of Maggie’s, we are providing a bucket collection at the front of the ground to help raise money for the hospice, as well as posting the link to Laura’s JustGiving page where she has already smashed her original goal of £2,000 and is now aiming for £3,000.
To donate to Laura’s page you can do so using the following link – JustGivingPage – or you can donate to Maggies on Saturday at the ground as you head in to watch the game.
