Albion Rovers can confirm Joe Bevan has left the club to join Burnley for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.
The 19-year-old forward, who joined just over a year ago from East of Scotland First Division side Camelon Juniors, made over 40 appearances for Rovers, scoring 15 times.
Joe now moves to Vincent Kompany’s Premier League outfit – and we could not be prouder, with the deal highlighting our willingness and success at bringing in young players and giving them a chance to thrive.
Joining as an 18-year-old amidst a tough relegation battle, Joe was a total standout in cinch League Two during the second half of the campaign, scoring nine times.
During this Park’s Motor Group Lowland League season, Joe has also had some magical moments, with his stunning strike against the University of Stirling live on the BBC sure to be one of the goals of the Scottish Cup tournament this year.
And his most recent goal in Rovers’ colours against leaders East Kilbride helped us to a 3-1 win away to the K-Park title challengers.
Albion Rovers interim chairman, Bobby Cameron, said: “Joe is a fantastic young man and everyone at Albion Rovers would like to wish him luck for his move to Burnley.
“Whilst we will be sad to see him go, other players will see how Albion Rovers is a club where the culture and environment support development, and that will help us to recruit others who have great potential in the future under the leadership of Sandy Clark and George Paterson.
“The deal we have agreed with Burnley is right for us as a football club. We also didn’t want to stand in Joe’s way as this move is a wonderful opportunity for him. We’ll be keeping a close eye on Joe and we’re sure we will see him shine.”
