It’s that time of year again when groundhoppers embark on a thrilling football marathonβsix matches in three days. This is no ordinary weekend, itβs a celebration of the game, packed with excitement, camaraderie, and a relentless pursuit of new grounds.
Groundhopping is the passion of visiting as many football venues as possible, a tradition embraced by organisations like GroundhopUK, the driving force behind ScottishHop 2025. These dedicated fans crisscross the country, attending multiple matches in quick succession, with kick-off times adjusted to maximise attendanceβ¦..Last years average attendance was 425 !
The concept emerged in the late 1980s in England and has since flourished across Europe. Unlike traditional supporters, groundhoppers are football purists, drawn to the sport at all levelsβfrom top-tier stadiums to grassroots grounds, experiencing the game in its rawest form.
With @ScottishHop2025 fast approaching, anticipation is building. The journey kicks off Friday night, followed by four action-packed matches on Saturday, before culminating on Sunday The full fixture card can be found below. It’s set to be an unforgettable weekend of football, adventure, and shared passion.
We look forward to welcoming everyone involved with the Groundhop to the Reigart Stadium for what should be a fantastic clash with Boness United
