Summary of the First Half:

The team started out strong in the first half, holding up against Dumbarton’s early attacks amazingly.

The goal scoring started early, Charlie Reilly manages to slip through Bevan who calmly slotted it into the right hand side of the net with the calmness of a striker 5 years his senior. His goal scoring didn’t stop there as only a couple minutes later he gets another goal after an amazing pass by Fernie – Bevan scores a goal which is powerful and fast enough to beat Brett Longs leg, going into the back of the net.

After this point our defense had practically nothing to do the entire half due to the midfield holding it firmly as Rovers controlled the play. One chance the home side had came down their right hand side, Sonkur blocks a dangerous ball from going into the middle of the box.

The scoring held off until the 32nd minute, in which Charlie Reilly takes it into his own feet and after a darting run just outside the box blasts it into the right hand side of the goal.

Wilson would make it 4 a couple of minutes later in the 39th minute. After receiving the ball the winger would take a few steps and smash the ball into the top left of the net.

Despite the scoreline Brett Long had quite a solid game in Dumbartons net, without his performance the score could’ve been much bigger.

Second Half summary:

What else is there to say? Rovers held out strongly defensively against the home side who also had a wind advantage like Rovers did in the first half.

The only lapse of concentration of the day being that our defense couldn’t hold onto their clean sheet with Dumbarton getting a consolation goal through an own goal by Sonkur.

The team must’ve felt frustrated after that as they went to Dumbarton like it was 1-1 with Wilson getting down the right hand side and playing it to Charlie who slots it into an empty net – making it 5-1 to Rovers.

Rovers move onto play Stranraer at home on Tuesday night.
