Charlie Reilly has been named cinch League 2 Player of the Month for January!
Our star man this campaign, Reilly continued to impress over the previous month – scoring twice and assisting once in our three outings.
The winger is now on 14 league goals for the season already, and he has chipped in with six assists too.
We kicked off the year with two back-to-back 4-0 wins on the road against Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic and Stranraer, before losing out 1-0 to Forfar Athletic in a tight match at Reigart Stadium.
Last time out, Reilly also scored an unbelievable free-kick against Elgin City to help us secure a point at Borough Briggs.
“I am delighted,” Reilly said of his award. “It was a good month for myself and for the team. To win two matches 4-0 away from home in a row was special and a wee bit of history for the club.
“I was happy to score another couple of goals and help out the team. Those results had been coming all season long (the 4-0 victories against Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic and Stranraer) in my eyes.
“As a group, we know that we can be higher up in the league and that we have the quality to do that. We have a lot of confidence at the moment.
“I want to push for a play-off spot and I know that is what the manager and the guys are aiming for too – we shouldn’t aim for less because we are good enough to achieve that goal.
“My focus is completely on Albion Rovers and I haven’t let anything else get in way of that.
“We need to pick up three points on Saturday against East Fife because our home form hasn’t been good enough and that is something we need to improve.”
