Annan Athletic preview

Annan Athletic preview

Albion Rovers welcome Annan Athletic to The Reigart Stadium tomorrow. Both teams enter the game as part of a four-way tie for bottom-place in cinch League Two, with Rovers leading the way by virtue of a superior goal difference. A positive result for either team would be the chance to move away from the foot of the table and put themselves in the mix to push for a promotion playoff spot at this early stage of the season.

The Galabankies’ last two visits to Coatbridge have saw them run out as winners, including a 4-1 victory in March, but Rovers won 4-2 in the most recent meeting between the sides at Galabank later that month.

Brian Reid’s side enter the match off the back of a huge 2-0 win away to Bonnyrigg Rose last weekend, which was not only Rovers’ first win of the league campaign, but also their first win in five across all competitions. Building off of that momentum could really help kick-start Rovers’ season.

The visitors, on the other hand, have started off slowly in the league, despite impressive campaigns in both the SPFL Trust Trophy and the Premier Sports Cup so far. They have lost their last two league matches and enter this game which is sandwiched between a midweek penalty shootout win over East Kilbride in the SPFL Trust Trophy and a visit from Premiership side Aberdeen in the Premier Sports Cup this coming Tuesday. It will be interesting to see what impact, if any, those fixtures will have on how they field and perform tomorrow.
