Albion Rovers return home to The Reigart Stadium after four successive games on the road with the latest one being a 0-0 draw with Stranraer at Stair Park last week. The Rovers welcome Annan Athletic to Coatbridge in a rearranged game, postponed due to the Annan playing Rangers in the Scottish Cup 5th Round.
The Galabankies come into this game sitting 3rd in cinch League 2 and on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Kelty Hearts. In that game Annan athletic went a goal down in the 5th minute after an own goal from Owen Moxon. 11 minutes later Kelty Hearts doubled their lead before adding their third in the second half. Annan got a goal back through substitute Robb McCartney which was his 4th in the league this season.
On the other hand, The Rovers are unbeaten in their last two games against Edinburgh City and Stranraer. With the Coatbridge club sitting in 9th, points are critical now to avoid the dreaded 10th place position, however, with games in hand on teams above and below them, the table could easily change for the better.
The last meeting between the two sides saw a share of the spoils at Galabank as the game ended 1-1 with Dominic Doherty scoring for Annan and Callum Wilson equalising for The Rovers. Looking further back, the last time these two sides met at The Reigart Stadium Annan Athletic won 1-0 through an Iain Anderson goal. Something we don’t want to be seeing this time around.
As one of two cinch League 2 games tonight, The Rovers have a chance to move up the table. A win tonight could potentially see The Rovers leapfrog Stirling Albion and Elgin City and move up into 7th place having played the same games as Stirling Albion, but two less than Elgin City.
So finally, get wrapped up and get along to The Reigart Stadium to cheer on Brian Reid’s side tonight which will be a cracking game for everyone to watch. The kick-off is at 7:45 pm with pay at the gate available for fans.
Come on the Rovers!!!!
