Albion Rovers vs East Fife preview

Albion Rovers vs East Fife preview

Rovers looking to build on previous stalemates

With Rovers seeing their last three league matches end in draws, there is hope for a more positive result as we travel to Bayview Stadium to take on East Fife tomorrow at 3pm.

The Summary and previous encounter between Albion Rovers and East Fife

Rovers come into this game in 9th position while Saturday’s opponents have been seeing more success in the league as they sit ten points above us in 3rd place, remaining unbeaten in their last four league fixtures. The last encounter between us and East Fife seen the visitors to the Reigart Stadium come away with all three points as they grabbed a 1-0 win thanks to winger Liam Newton’s 67th minute strike. Rovers will also be facing former striker Alan Trouten who had an incredible scoring record while at the club!

Albion Rovers vs Stirling Albion last weekend

Rovers will also be hoping to avoid any further late drama like they experienced last weekend against Stirling Albion as we sadly couldn’t hold onto our 1-0 lead as Dale Carrick struck home with four minutes to play for the ten men of The Binos to tie up the game. Charlie Reilly will also be looking to continue his hot scoring streak this weekend as he grabbed yet another goal last Saturday with a brilliant finish to solidify his place as top scorer with nine goals this season.

The current standings

There is also cause for concern at the bottom of the table as there lies Forfar Athletic who are joint on points with Rovers. They face an out of form Bonnyrigg Rose side who have lost their last 3 in a row, allowing for potentially seeing Rover’s slump to the bottom of the league should they not get a positive result.

Current table:

  1. Dumbarton – 29 pts
  2. Stirling Albion – 27 pts
  3. East Fife – 21 pts
  4. Elgin City – 19 pts
  5. Stenhousemuir – 19 pts
  6. Stranraer – 16 pts
  7. Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic – 13 pts
  8. Annan Athletic – 13 pts
  9. Albion Rovers – 11 pts
  10. Forfar Athletic – 11 pts

As the league table shows, a win for Rovers could see us jump into as high as 7th place and put us in slight contention for the play-offs as we aim to steer away from relegation. We also aim to keep up our four-game unbeaten run which includes the previously mentioned three stalemates in the league as well as the 4-1 triumph over Glasgow University in the Scottish Cup last month.
