Albion Rovers vs East Fife Preview

Albion Rovers vs East Fife Preview

Brian Reid says that he expects a good game tomorrow as East Fife make the trip to the Reigart Stadium as he aims to take advantage of home games.

The Rovers come into the game picking up a point in Elgin last week with City clawing back a goal deep into the second half, cancelling out a sublime Charlie Reilly free-kick.

A win for the Rovers will see the Coatbridge side draw level on points with Elgin on 27 points, with Brian Reid’s side jumping above the Brough Briggs team on goal difference.

The Rovers boss says that he has been happy with the team’s form since the turn of the year with his side picking up 7 points out of 12 in the league.

Speaking to ARFC Media, he said: “We are looking forward to it as the games are coming thick and fast and we need to try and keep going. Since coming into the new year our form has been okay with some good results so we need to keep that going.

“Last week was obviously a sore one as I feel we deserved the three points, however, coming back down the road with one isn’t too bad.

“We just now need to take advantage of our home games to make sure we get the points on the board but it will be a tough game, much like every game in this division.”

East Fife come into the game against the Rovers having picked up 5 points from a potential 15 with their only win of the year so far coming away from home against Elgin.

The players that Brian Reid will be looking to keep quiet is Fifers forwards, Alan Trouten and Ryan Schiavone who sit on 7 goals, 1 assist and 5 goals, 1 assist respectively.

The Fife started the season strongly as they picked up 3 wins from their opening 4 games, something that Reid says he has kept in mind when preparing for this game.

He said: “East Fife’s form was very good at the start of the season and they have fell off it a little bit recently. It is something that we are mindful of when it comes to playing them.

“When you look at us, our form at the start of the season was pretty good but we weren’t getting the results. Now we are getting the goals, the performances and the results since the turn of the year, so I am hoping that we can keep this up.

“The last few seasons I have been in here we have managed to finish the season strongly, so that is our aim to keep this up and make sure that we can get points on the table that will hopefully put us in a strong position”

Charlie Reilly has been the Rovers star man this season with the winger netting an impressive 15 goals along with 7 assists, with Reid describing his goals being “invaluable” to the team recently.
Reilly also picked up his second Player of the Month award for his contributions in January, as he looks to finish the season strongly and add more numbers to his game.

The boss described the player’s free-kick against Elgin as “one of the best” since his time at the club as he express his delight at being able to keep Reilly in Coatbridge.

He said: “He is getting the recognition now and is a great young talent within the game.

“For a wide player to chip in with the goals he has is exceptional and most of his goals are also very good.

“He has scored a few free-kicks in his time here but that one at the weekend is up there with one of the best he has scored.”
