This afternoon, Rovers recorded a hugely important victory at Stenhousemuir – a result that sees us move four points ahead of fourth place Peterhead.
After a goalless first-half, with just over twenty minutes remaining Gary Fisher scored what proved to be the only goal of the game. The midfielder found himself with space outside the box, before driving a well placed strike into the bottom corner.
Just two minutes after Fisher’s opener however, the home side were presented the chance to put the scores level – referee Matt Northcroft awarding Stenhousemuir with a penalty after Ross Dunlop was judged to have fouled Colin McMenimen inside the box. Up-stepped Jason Scotland, but the former Dundee United, Wigan and Hamilton striker could only guide his spot-kick off the post.
Despite Stenhousemuir’s Lewis Small coming close in the last minute with a strike from inside the box, Rovers held on for the impressive victory
