Rovers defeated despite strong performance

Albion Rovers were this afternoon defeated in the second pre-season friendly of the season.

It was the away side who took the lead, after eight minutes Will Vaulks firing a long-range effort into the corner of the net.

Just before the half hour mark however Rovers had the chance the get back into the game, however, when presented with a chance, a last-ditch challenge from Paul Watson denied Scott McBride from scoring.

With just under ten minutes remaining of the half, Falkirk doubled their lead, Bob McHugh’s header flying past Ross Stewart.

Just before the 60 minute mark, the emergence of Calum Ferguson saw Rovers fight their way back into the game, the former Inverness striker firstly clinically firing into the net, before three minutes later firing home from the centre of the box.

The lead however wasn’t to last, and with twenty to go, the dangerous Will Vaulkes scored yet another cracker, this time volleying an effort past Stewart from outside the box.

To put the game clear of Rovers, at 75 minutes Falkirk scored their fourth of the afternoon, a James Craigen cross meeting the head of Nathan Austin.
