Rovers complete 2015-16 campaign with convincing win at Stenhousemuir

Although results elsewhere saw Rovers narrowly missing out on that final play-off spot, it was otherwise the perfect end to what has been a spectacular campaign for Albion Rovers Football Club.

The first-half was a tight affair, with the minds of both teams perhaps elsewhere due to favours being needed. Despite it being fairly even, it was Rovers who created the better chances, Ally Love coming close early on and Paul Willis firing over from a corner.

In the second period however, Rovers started at a blistering pace, Scott McBride bundling home an effort from close-range just five minutes after the interval.

With the home side now piling bodies forward in order to draw level, just 17 minutes after McBride’s opener the dangerous Ally Love doubled Rovers’ lead, firing a powerful effort into the roof of the net.

Just over 15 minutes until full-time, McBride was on goal-scoring duties again, scoring his ninth of the season with a clinical strike from inside the box.

With only two more minutes remaining of normal time, the home side pulled one back, a cross from the right flank seeing McCormack’s header fly into the back of the net. It was however only a consolation as Rovers held on for the three points, in the last match of what has been a truly memorable season.
