Albion Rovers are delighted to announce that we’ll be facing Ladbrokes Premiership side Motherwell in a pre-season friendly in early July.
The game will take place at Cliftonhill on Saturday the 2nd of July with a 15:00 kick-off, being the first meeting between the two sides since our historic victory over the Steelmen in the 2013/14 William Hill Scottish Cup.
Rovers Communications Officer Joe James commented on the announcement of the friendly: “All involved at the club are fully expecting it to be a worthwhile afternoon for both the supporters and the team.
“It’s most likely going to be the first time that the supporters will get to see the Rovers side this season so I’m sure we can get a decent crowd down to see how the team are shaping up for the season.
“With Darren Young suggesting that the Steelmen will bring a mixture of both first team and development players, it’ll be a really good early test for the squad and it’ll hopefully prepare the boys well for when the competitive fixtures against the likes of Kilmarnock and Greenock Morton come around.”
Ticket details for the clash will be announced within the next few weeks.
