It’s been a hugely disappointing start to the season for the Blue Toon, an opening day 4-0 thrashing at Alloa, followed by a 3-0 home defeat against East Fife seeing the side rooted to bottom spot of the Ladbrokes League One table.

Manager Darren Young however still believes it’ll prove a tough match and one in which we’ll need to be at our best to pick up anything from.

“Along with us Peterhead will be pushing to get their first league win of the season. It’s a hard place to go but were more than up to the task of coming away with three points.”

“They have one of, if not the best striker in the league in Rory McCallister. If we can keep him quiet then we will have a chance.”

If Rovers are to pick up their first league victory of the season, it’s likely they’ll need to do so without a number of key players – Ryan Wallace, Kevin McCann, Paul Archibald, Ross Davidson, Ross Gilmour and Calum Ferguson all struggling with knocks. Friday’s signing from Hamilton Accies, Steven Boyd, will go straight into the match day squad and in contention for a starting place.

Despite the significant injuries, Young suggests that the impressive victory mid-week at home to Hamilton will hopefully stand the side in good stead, and give the players and added confidence boost coming into the game.

“We’re desperate to get back to winning ways in the league again. It was good getting the midweek victory and we’re looking to follow that up with a good performance against Peterhead on Saturday.”
