On Tuesday, promising youngster Paul Archibald put pen to paper on a contract that sees him stay at Cliftonhill for the 2016/17 season. We caught up with Archibald following his written commitment to the club.
“I’m delighted to have signed on for another season. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here so far and can’t wait to get started again for the new season. ”
“I am very pleased with how well I got on in my first season at the Rovers. When I first signed I wasn’t expecting to play as much as I did, so from that point of view it has been a success. However, at first I found it tough to get up to speed with the pace and standard of the football required at this level, but I feel I’ve already learned so much and developed as a player.”
“It would be good if I could get my first goal sooner rather than later and hopefully once I get a goal, I can push on and add a few more. I’d also like to force myself into the starting eleven more often.”
“We have shown this season what we are capable of as a team and were really unfortunate not to secure a play-off place. Hopefully next season we can build on this years achievements and secure an even higher league finish and be in the hunt for the play-offs again this time next year. It would also be good if we could go on a decent run in the cups.”
The re-signing of Archibald is not only crucial for allowing the club to consolidate and expand for the up and coming season, but also build for the future, with Darren Young already suggesting that the youngster has what it takes to play at a higher level.
