Matchday 4 | Elgin City (H) Preview

Albion Rovers vs Elgin City

Ladbrokes League 2
The Reigart Stadium, Coatbridge
Saturday 18th August, 3pm

Elgin currently sit on 4 points after the two opening games, they drew 1-1 on opening day in Annan and bet Edinburgh City at home 1-0 thanks to a goal from Shane Sutherland. In the Irn-Cup they also exited the competition, losing out on penalties to League 1 side Arbroath. Shane Sutherland is one to watch having scored 18 goals last season, as Elgin finished 5th and just missed out on the playoffs.

Last time out the ‘Rovers lost 3-1 against Edinburgh City at Ainslie Park, the Irn-Bru cup match got off to a great start and the first-half performance gave us our first competitive goal of the season, John Cunningham with a great finish under pressure.  After the break it fell apart for the away team, Edinburgh City took control of the game and Scott Shepherd slotted home to level. Once again Blair Henderson proved to be too much for the ‘Rovers defence, the ball was lofted over the backline and he volleyed in. Daniel Potts, starting in goals then gave away a penalty, which Henderson calmly put away to finish the scoring.
