Matchday 2 | Peterhead (H) Preview

Albion Rovers vs Peterhead

Ladbrokes League 2
The Reigart Stadium, Coatbridge
Saturday 11th August, 3pm

Peterhead head into the game with one point, drawing 1-1 at home against Queens Park on opening day. Rory McAllister is always one to watch, scoring the goal for the ‘Blue Toon in the match. The striker has been touted one of the lower league greats of this century. Last season they finished agonisingly close to promotion, losing in the playoffs after finishing second place.

The ‘Rovers first game of the season certainly didn’t go as planned…
Edinburgh City ran out 4-0 winners in what was a comfortable afternoon for the Citizens.  After the ball was handled in the box, Henderson slotted the penalty away after 8 minutes. The rest of the half saw an improved Rovers performance, however, a goal still seemed beyond the team. John Brogan changed the system for the second half however it was City who took control, Henderson scoring another two goals on 56 and 64 minutes to complete his hattrick. Smith added to the rout 10 minutes from the end, slotting past Hallford.

Speaking to Ben Kearney just after the full-time whistle, John lamented a poor all-round performance.
“We had too many inept performances, weak all round”
“We had a right go at them at half-time but they just didn’t respond”
Also, John confirmed he is looking to add to the squad with some loan deals.
“We will be looking down that avenue now”
“On Thursday, we will be bringing in a left back from St Mirren”
John made sure, however, to remind fans that it is not a quick fix.
“It is not something that will happen overnight, we have a great mentality in the team and I know we can get it right”
