Fisher king for Albion

Albion took a giant step towards the Scottish League Two title with a 1-0 win away at second-placed Queen’s Park.

Gary Fisher’s second goal in as many games moved Rovers seven points clear with six games remaining.

The visitors were out the traps quickly, with Edward Ferns’ header hitting the crossbar in the second minute.

Gavin Mitchell then cleared Fisher’s header off the line while Darren Young was also denied by the bar.

Rovers went ahead 10 minutes before the break when Fisher’s effort from 20 yards was deflected off Tony Quinn and found the back of the net.

Sean Burns’ 41st-minute shot flashed across the face of goal with Ross McPherson narrowly failing to make contact in the middle as the hosts looked to level.

Mark McGuigan could have made it two 21 minutes from time but he was denied brilliantly by goalkeeper William Muir.
