Development Squad on the Move

Development Squad Win 5-2

In what’s turning out to be a remarkable first season for Brian Kerr development squad they took a step closer to 3rd place in the league last night with a 5-2 win over rivals Clyde in a rousing 2nd half performance. After a challenging first half performance the development squad quickly got into gear in the second and right from the start went ahead with a great move and goal from Liam McGuigan, this was shortly follow by his second with a header at the back post to take the Rover 2-0 up.

Half way through the 2nd half a Rovers defensive mistake let Clyde back in with a penalty chance which they converted to make it 2-1, quickly another penalty was conceded and Clyde drew level from the converted penalty take.

While many teams would have folded not this team, in what turned out to be their best period of play the Rovers turned up the pressure and it was Clyde who conceded a penalty, but while looking confident Gallagher failed to convert.

While being slightly upstaged by his fellow striker Liam McGuigan scoring 2 goals it was the time for Ryan McManus to put the game out of Clyde’s reach with 3 goals in 20 minutes, some great football from the striker seen him turn and hit 3 goals from all angles within the box, some great football on the night and the Rovers Development Squad continue their great run.

The win put rovers up to 3rd place 1 point behind Ayr, the also have the advantage of a game in hand and look to increase their winning run against Morton on 7.30 Kick Off Thursday 30th March 2017.

Goal Scorers: Ryan McManus 3 – Liam McGuigan 2
