Delightful double from Barrowman seals home win over Stenhousemuir

Courtesy of two headed goals from striker Andrew Barrowman, Rovers today came away with all three points in a dominant victory over Stenhousemuir.

The Rovers opened the scoring on the half hour mark, when Barrowman headed home from a pinpoint Joshua Mullin cross on the left flank.

Rovers continued to pile on the pressure, and just over ten minutes into the second period, Rovers and Barrowman added a second. This time, Gary Fisher’s cross from out-wide was met by the head of the aforementioned Barrowman, before flying into the back of the net.

In the latter stages of the game, Stenhousemuir forward Colin McMenamin was shown straight red after kicking out at Rovers defender Ross Dunlop.

The fulltime whistle shortly blew and it was Rovers who emerged victorious, the club recording its first back-to-back victories since gaining promotion from the Scottish League Two.

It was a deserved win for Rovers, a victory that goalscorer Barrowman believes will do wonders for Rovers campaign.

“It was good first and foremost to get the win. It was a big three points for us today” said the striker.

“To get the goal as well is pleasing. As a striker that’s your job and you always want to score. I’m actually a bit disappointed I hadn’t scored more before now, but three points are the most important thing”, Barrowman added.

Barrowman, who was also awarded with man of the match, felt that there’s no reason why Rovers can’t take the numerous positives from today’s performance into next weekend’s trip to Dunfermline.

“We try win every game, this league is so tight and Dunfermline have been beaten twice this season, they got beat off Ayr and we beat Ayr so we’ll go to Dunfermline and do our best to come away with all three points.”
