Darren’s Verdict

Following Saturday’s impressive 3-2 victory over Forfar Athletic at Cliftonhill, we caught up with the Rovers player/manager.

“We’re all absolutely delighted with the win and the three points after such a poor start. But the boys did show real determination to get back so quickly.”

“Every one of the players were outstanding, we got Ross Dunlop clearing balls off the line and Ross Stewart pulling off wonder saves and Ally Love working so hard up the top. It was a real team performance that, a game we showed so much character and grit in to keep coming back even though we went behind, then Forfar drew level.”

“There’s a real feel good factor around the club at the moment, we’ve got one game left to go of this season and to be in with a shout of finishing in the play-off spots is unbelievable. For a club to do that in our league, with the budget we’ve got, it’s absolutely incredible and something all the supporters should take great pleasure from.”

“Despite the win, it’s a bit of a weird feeling that I’ve just relegated my own brother. You’ve got to look after yourself at the end of the day and he was hardly looking out for me on the day we got beat 4-0 up at Forfar at the start of the season.”

“We go to Stenhousemuir next week looking to win, that’s all we can do and let’s hope results elsewhere allow us to have a day to remember. ”

“We’ve always had that belief that we can get into the top four, even though certain people were talking last week like they were already in the play-offs which was a little bit disrespectful to the teams that could still catch them.”

“First and foremost we need to take care of ourselves, Stenhousemuir are going to be desperate to get a win to end their season on a high so we’ll need to be at our best and hopefully get that win”
