Brechin City Match Preview

Next up for Rovers in the Scottish League One fixture calendar is a trip East to face Brechin City.

With a late John Gemmell strike sealing all three points for the Rovers last weekend, Darren Young’s side has continued to display the rich vain of form displayed in the first quarter of the season – Rovers currently sitting join third in the table.

Saturday’s opposition Brechin, on the other hand, have had a fairly slow start to their campaign, Darren Dods’ side sitting bottom of the league, with only two victories to their name.

Player/manager Darren Young does still believe however that Rovers will need to show their best if they are to leave Glebe Park with all three points.

“Brechin had a few injuries at the start of the season, but they’ve started to pick up points and are always a threat at home.

“They have a few dangerous players going forward and we’ll need to concentrate at all times in order to pick up the points,” Young added.

With Young’s return from suspension, the only unavailable player is striker Callum McRobbie, who’s still out from an injury picked up during a bounce game. Despite McRobbie’s absence, plenty of options are available in the attacking department, Andrew Barrowman showing up well in the last week’s whilst John Gemmell came on and scored the winner against Peterhead last weekend.

“Competition is healthy and keeps players on their toes. Andy has played well over the past few weeks and John did come on and take his goal well, it gives me and Billy a decision to make.”

Young also suggested that it’s unlikely his side will struggle to cope with the heat that comes with playing at the top end of the table.

“There isn’t any pressure on the boys or myself other than to go out, do our best and give 100%. We’ve had a good start and will go into the game the same way we have every other match, we’ll try to be positive and play football.”
