We caught up with Darren Young before tomorrow’s important match v Peterhead.
Last Saturday’s victory over full-time Livingston has to rank among one of my very proudest moments as Rovers manager. We scored two excellent goals, and could have scored more, and we would have kept a clean sheet but for a very soft penalty deep into injury time.
But the manner of the victory was the most pleasing aspect of all. Our defending was great throughout, our midfield vibrant and dynamic, and we took the game to Livingston right from the outset with our front players asking all kinds of questions of the Livi defence. All in all, a terrific team performance, and one that augurs well for the season ahead.
Today we welcome Jim McInally’s Peterhead, fresh from their 3-1 victory over Airdrie at the Excelsior last week. The Blue Toon held us to a hard fought 2-2 draw at the Balmoor Stadium back in August, and they’ll be hoping to go one better at Cliftonhill this afternoon. But if the lads can maintain the kind of form we showed at Almondvale last Saturday (with only injured Calum Ferguson missing from our squad) we are confident that, with your vocal support, we can make it five wins out of six, and continue our ascent of the Scottish League One table.
Enjoy the match.
