Gaston hopes save is turning point

Albion Rovers goalkeeping hero Derek Gaston is hoping that his injury time penalty save against Stenhousemuir on Tuesday night that secured a 1-0 win for the bottom placed Coatbridge men will go down as a turning point in their season.
Gaston turned away Eric Paton’s spot-kick to help Paul Martin’s side earn their first win in almost 3 months and the shot-stopper said, “I regard the penalty save as probably the best and most important of my career so far. Hopefully it can be a turning point of the season.”
We are only really looking at eighth place, realistically, at the moment. Survival is everything but in such an unpredictable league, anything can happen.”
Gaston expects to be busy tomorrow as Airdrie arrive at Cliftonhill looking to make up for their 7-2 defeat in the Lanarkshire Derby back in November. The goalie said, “Airdrie will be out for revenge after the hammering we gave them the last time we played here so I am expecting a pretty full on game. We will be equally determined as we are also sore after losing at their place at the beginning of the year.”
